Craven, Pamlico buck trend of more pets being taken to shelters (New Bern Sun Journal)
Pet owners in Craven and Pamlico counties appear to be bucking a national trend of more animals being turned in to shelters. News reports attribute the trend to economic hardships. But Katherine Smith, lead animal control officer for Craven-Pamlico Animal Services Center, hasn't noted the change.
